Speech Pathologist

Jan has extensive experience working as a Speech Pathologist in disability, health and education.  She has worked in both the public and private sectors in the UK and Australia.

Jan qualified as a Speech Pathologist in Birmingham in the UK, she was awarded a Rotary scholarship to study in the US and gained a Master’s Degree in Special Education.  Later she completed a Bachelor of Law at Adelaide University.

Throughout her career she has always continued her clinical practice even when she undertook management roles.

Jan has a clinical practice that reflects her experience with both children and adults and provides intervention that is efficient, effective and based on best practice.  She has continued to upgrade her clinical skills with additional training in the areas of Autism Spectrum Disorder, voice and speech and language therapy.

Jan is an accredited assessor for Autism Spectrum Disorder with Autism SA and is a certified Hanen practitioner.  In recent years she has been a consultant for the Australian Association of Independent Schools South Australia (AISSA).  Jan brings a high level of enthusiasm and knowledge to her practice ensuring quality outcomes in her intervention approach.

Jan provides services for children and adults.

Children’s services include assessment and intervention for:

  • Language delay and disorder (Hanen certified)
  • Articulation delay, speech sound disorders and dyspraxia (PROMPT (trained)
  • Stuttering (fluency disorder) (Lidcombe trained)
  • Specific literacy based learning difficulties
  • Phonological awareness
  • Social communication skills
  • Voice disorders
  • Paradoxical vocal fold dysfunction
  • Chronic cough
  • Tongue Thrust
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (accredited with Autism SA for diagnostic assessments)

Adult services include assessment and intervention for:

  • Voice disorders
  • Paradoxical vocal fold dysfunction
  • Chronic cough
  • Accent reduction
  • Neurological communication and swallowing disorders
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (accredited with Autism SA for diagnostic assessments)

Jan is able to provide services to Self Managed & Plan Managed NDIS participants.
